【What is “Hokatsu”?】
Parents raising children in Japan suffer from “Hokatsu”.
“Hokatsu” is an activity to put a child in a nursery school. Mainly parents collect information, prepare documents, and join the nursery school tour.
According to a survey about the start time of “Hokatsu”, “immediately after childbirth to less than 6 months after birth” is the most common answer in 29.8%.
In addition, 23.4% parents started “Hokatsu” during “pregnancy”, which is more than 20%, and we found that the number of parents who start “Hokatsu” during pregnancy is increasing.
Children who want to enter a nursery school but cannot enter it due to a shortage of nursery schools are called “Taiki Jido” which means waiting-list children.
The burden of kindergarten hunting “Hokatsu” and the problems of waiting-list children “Taiki Jido” are still unsolved.
