【Oolong tea is charged】
“Would you like to bring you a cup of hot tea?”
This is a frequently asked question in Japanese restaurants.
If the waiter/waitress asks this question, this tea is free.
This question is often asked after meals, and the type of tea varies from restaurant to restaurant, but green tea, roasted tea, and barley tea are common.
However, looking at the menu table, oolong tea is sold for around 300 to 400 yen. Oolong tea is charged at most restaurants.
If you want to drink tea at a restaurant and are not particular about the type of tea, ask the waiter/waitress if free tea is offered before ordering the oolong tea listed on the menu table.
Asking the waiter/waitress, “Do you have free tea?” may save you a little money.
